Leaders from Red Wings, Airports of Regions Holding and the Ministry of Transport of Sverdlovsk Oblast held a press conference celebrating an anniversary of the Airline’s hub at Koltsovo airport, Yekaterinburg. This mutual project aimed to develop the direct scheduled flights from Yekaterinburg was launched in October 2020.
«All flight destinations proved to be in great demand among the population, but they require some funding from the federal and regional budgets. This will make the ticket prices affordable for the passengers», said Dmitry Brusyanin, a deputy Minister of Transport and Public Road System of Sverdlovsk Oblast, at the press conference.
«We are satisfied with the results of the first year. Red Wings carried 470 thousand passengers from Koltsovo this year. In January – September 2021, we transported 38 thousand people from Koltsovo and are likely to reach the number of half a million passengers by the end of 12 months. Red Wings inter-Russian destinations from Yekaterinburg outnumber the itineraries of all other airline companies. The project of a regional low-cost carrier which enables the passengers to take nonstop flights around the country at affordable prices is in full swing. For 2022, we plan to operate about 30 international and inter-Russian destinations from Yekaterinburg and to develop further the touristic and transfer capacity of the city», said Evgeny Klyucharev, Red Wings CEO.
«Our next goal is to develop the regional transfer and the connections of two our base airline companies: Red Wings and Ural Airlines. It is important that we have signed a code-share agreement. Next year, the transfer will grow, that will enable us to develop the itineraries, and the inhabitants of Sverdlovsk Oblast can fly where they want at cheap prices and with no connections», noted Evgeny Chudnovsky, CEO of Airport of Regions Management Company.
